"Takaya" by Zoe Zum

from CA$48.00

”I was inspired to paint Takaya, the wolf who spent years living alone on Discovery Island and who was recently killed. He was a beautiful majestic creature that touched many hearts. My heart goes out to the individuals who formed a relationship with him and who really knew him. My painting represents not only Takaya, but all wolves and their beauty, intelligence and their importance. Help make this unnecessary killing be something positive and help protect wild wolves in BC and protect our forests!. Images used for reference were inspired and based on Cheryl Alexander's photographs.

My artwork is a window reflecting personal and universal meanings. It is a voice of the dream world, an expression of the journey within consciousness and of life itself. Metaphors, symbols and figures reveal narrative throughout the making process . The act of creating artwork and tapping into a visionary mind space comes with the responsibility to be a voice for the things I believe in and love. In this rapidly changing world I feel called to honour the animals and land and to invite a sense of remembering through my imagery. Many of my paintings begin with dreams and I aspire to paint the messages and visions I receive to share them with others. I hope my paintings can evoke a sense of "oneness," an interconnection and importance of all life, as they do for me.”
