“I heard of Takaya quite a long time ago, first on the news, I research it as it peaked my curiosity. It seemed so unusual to hear of a wolf living so close to an urban centre. I was glad that there wasn't a ton of people going over to see him. Yet there he was on the edge of a human habitat, and living peacefully next to it. He had a place to live a wolf's life, and kept it in ecological balance. I can't help think there is a message here for all of us. So I am encouraged by this Art show that Cheryl has brought together so his death is not just another cull statistic. This was a very special wolf who brought our attention to the natural world and their right to be here. Our propose can be to protect and advocate for their continued existence. That why I wanted to be a part of this Art Show, and feel honoured to be a part of it.As for the wolves, our lives can emulate theirs. Their sense of family and co-operation I took many years ago in our early family life. That spirit I could feel and see in the shapes around me and that gave me confidence and wonder. So I owe something to the wolf. They are teachers of a sort.”
