"Takaya" by Kendall Lipsett
Artist Statement
“This piece was created to honour a beloved coastal wolf, Takaya. His story touched my heart especially because of my love for wolves. I grew up with a strong interest in the unique sea wolves and spirit bears and although I live in the BC interior, I still treasure these beautiful animals. With the current climate issues we face, now more than ever I wish to help in protecting their habitats and healing the damage we have caused. Pacific Wild is the perfect way for me to connect to this desire through donations and by using my art to support awareness and help raise funds for a cause so dear to my heart. May we all work together to create a better world for all who live here.”
Artist Bio
Although creative as a child, life conditions pushed Kendall's art to the side for many years. A blessing in the disguise of a cancer diagnosis helped her realize that she must live vibrantly each day, trust her inner guidance, create artwork to bring joy to herself and others, and take actions to show that we can all make a difference in the world. She is now cultivating positive change and nurturing that creative spark back into her life, and is excited to see where that path takes her! She considers herself lucky to live in Prince George, BC, where there is an abundance of nature and wildlife all around to inspire her, but she knows a piece of her heart will always remain on the coast with the cedars, wolves, and spirit bears.
